Narrative Medicine & Storytelling

Every emergency physician carries stories; the ones we don’t tell are the ones that do the damage. Storytelling is my preferred treatment — for second-victim syndrome, for the parts of training nobody warns you about, and for making the public feel what a chart never shows. It’s why I host Anamnesis, MedPage Today’s storytelling podcast, and why I’ve taken narrative medicine to a TEDx stage and a HIMSS session.
